Article: Wieboldt's renews Carson's bid

Saying it has signed agreements for the necessary financing, a group representing Wieboldt Stores yesterday renewed its $360 million offer for Carson Pirie Scott & Co., just one day after Carson's board rejected it.

An unidentified "multibillion-dollar conglomerate" has agreed to buy Carson's Dobbs House food service division if the Wieboldt group completes the takeover, said Wieboldt's Chairman Gilbert Granet, who heads the Baytree Investors firm that proposed the buyout.
