Saying it has signed agreements for the necessary financing, a
group representing Wieboldt Stores yesterday renewed its $360 million
offer for Carson Pirie Scott & Co., just one day after Carson's board
rejected it.
An unidentified "multibillion-dollar conglomerate" has agreed to
buy Carson's Dobbs House food service division if the Wieboldt group
completes the takeover, said Wieboldt's Chairman Gilbert Granet, who
heads the Baytree Investors firm that proposed the buyout. The sale
of Dobbs House would defray debt incurred in the deal, and Baytree
has signed an agreement with an unidentified financing source for the
balance of the acquisition funding, said Baytree partner Chris
