Get ready for a million-calorie dose of "Brown Sugar" this Sunday as
PBS begins a delightful four-part series on the lives and times of
America's greatest black female performers.
Airing from 2 to 3 p.m. Sunday for the next month on
WTTW-Channel 11, "Brown Sugar" traces the development of these
artists from show business' segregated stages to the mainstream of
contemporary entertainment.
Four weeks hardly seems enough time to devote to the likes of
Dorothy Dandridge, Bessie Smith, Josephine Baker, Lena Horne, ...
