A change or two has been made on the poster of Van Halen that adorns
the bathroom wall of Eddie Van Halen's home recording studio. Some
enterprising soul has blacked out the face of singer David Lee Roth
with a marking pen. A classic case of rock art imitating rock life.
"I'll say!" says drummer Alex Van Halen. "But it's like I've
always said: You have to drive a Volkswagen for a while before you
can appreciate a Porsche." This bit of automotive analogy draws a
round of applause from Eddie Van Halen, Michael Anthony and the
Porsche, Sammy Hagar, during a recent afternoon conversation at
Eddie's hilltop hideaway.
