LONDON (UPI) After abdicating the throne of England, the
former King Edward VIII wrote to Baltimore socialite Wallis Warfield
Simpson that she was all he had left in the world and was all that he
wanted, according to love letters published yesterday.
"I hide my face but send you all love," the twice-divorced
Simpson wrote back as she waited to marry the man who gave up his
crown in 1936 for "the woman I love."
Simpson, who died a bedridden recluse in Paris last week at the
age of 89, had asked that the letters be published after her death in
an effort to shed new light on the century's most powerful love
story, said the Daily Mail, which printed the letters.
