Bread crumbs are widely available, widely used and widely
misunderstood.
First of all, bread crumbs needn't be store-bought. Although
the cardboard containers of crumbs found on supermarket shelves
undoubtedly are convenient, they have their drawbacks - they contain
only dried crumbs; their seasonings may not suit your recipe, and
they cost more than homemade.
The next time you're faced with those last few slices of bread
at the end of a loaf, try these simple methods of making crumbs.
