Article: Charity Music Mart has mammoth space problem

Unless the Mammoth Music Mart finds lots of storage space soon, the charitable fund-raiser may have to change its name to the Mouse Music Mart.

The annual event sells thousands of records and other music-related items to benefit the Les Turner ALS Foundation, headquartered in Skokie. ALS - amyotrophic lateral sclerosis - is better known as "Lou Gehrig's Disease."

The foundation stored the donated articles with a Skokie manufacturer until last year, when the firm needed the space returned. Then it used a vacant store at a shopping center, but recently a paying tenant moved in.
