Article: `On your left is Mars'-prof set for space tours

If most space travel will be by tourists, think of Paul Sipiera as a tour guide.

Sipiera, 37, is one of a dozen advisers to a privately run program that plans to orbit paying passengers starting on Columbus Day, 1992. His fee? A free seat on many of the flights.

"I love space, and I love my profession," said Sipiera, a professor of earth sciences at Harper College in Palatine. "I intend to be on board as a lecturer for some of these flights. I would love to give a lecture on continental drift from 110 miles up."
