Article: Women equal? Not in Iran // Cleric says they have `smaller brains' and must be forced to meet dress restrictions

ATHENS, Greece (UPI) Iran must use force to make all women cover themselves from head to foot because "women have smaller brains than men," a prominent Iranian clergyman said yesterday in Tehran.

There is "no such thing as equality between men and women," Parliament Speaker and cleric Hashemi Rafsanjani said during Friday prayers, according to residents in the Iranian capital. "They are different physically and mentally," he said.

Rafsanjani said Western countries that had given "more and more liberty to women" were "in a mess."
