When Tom Cruise and his F-14 fighter plane roar across the movie
screen in "Top Gun," American teenagers are getting the message:
War is safe. War is glorious. War is fun.
The message must be appealing. "Top Gun" has been a box-office
smash throughout the United States, making more money than Sylvester
Stallone's "Cobra" and Arnold Schwarzenegger's "Raw Deal."
Considering its strong opening last month and proven staying power at
first-run theaters, "Top Gun" could be the biggest commercial hit of
the summer.
With its dazzling aerial photography and the popular, talented
and handsome Cruise in the starring role, "Top Gun" can be
