Any radical publication can get itself denounced by Business
Week, the Moral Majority and U.S. senators.
Having achieved this, Mother Jones has received a higher
accolade. It was denounced by Lyndon LaRouche, who called it a
"pro-terrorist rag."
For that matter, it sometimes is denounced by its own readers,
50 of whom wrote to protest the "crass commercialism" of a new
circulation sweepstakes.
The July/August Mother Jones is a 10th-anniversary issue that
takes obvious glee in all the toes the left-wing journal has stepped
on.
Magazine anniversary issues usually are stuffed with pompous
self-congratulations, but Mother Jones, true to its irreverent
nature, pokes some fun at itself.
