Forgive me if I feel trapped in a rock 'n' roll time warp. Friday I
caught the Everly Brothers at Ravinia. Saturday I saw Fats Domino
and Jerry Lee Lewis at the Holiday Star Theater. (And this was after
reviewing the Monkees at Poplar Creek on Thursday.) What's next?
Hank Williams on Tuesday? Buddy Holly on Wednesday?
The revival and ongoing vitality of the Everly Brothers are
almost as miraculous as those would be. From the way the two turned
their voices into soaring, heartfelt harmony at Ravinia, you would
never have guessed that the brothers practically came to blows at
their last show of the early '70s. They then spent a full decade
