When I think of the jug of wine that goes with a loaf of bread and "thee," I envision a bottle of ruby red wine, probably a Bordeaux. But romance aside, red wine's popularity has greatly diminished.

Wine sales in restaurants and stores are overwhelmingly white. Why the cold shoulder for red wines? There are a few reason and several misconceptions that are contributing factors, all related to changing American eating habits.
