How much have times changed? How much has change - small or
otherwise - changed?
The renovation of the Chicago Theater has unearthed some
interesting artifacts, one of which is a list of salaries paid
various entertainers in the theater's heydays of the '30s, '40s and
'50s.
Forty years ago, for instance, Bob Hope "& Company" split
$13,200 for a one-week run. Red Skelton, who is scheduled to return
to the rehabbed theater this season, apparently divvied up $7,030
with several associates.
