The criminal trial of state Rep. Larry S. Bullock (D-Chicago),
opening today in U.S. District Court, is expected to produce
explosive evidence that could embarrass major political figures.
One name virtually certain to surface is that of Ald. Edward R.
Vrdolyak (10th), a Bullock ally and archenemy of Mayor Washington.
Bullock, 40, is facing 18 counts, growing largely out of alleged
abuse of public office through wide-ranging business deals.
Federal prosecutors reportedly want the jury to hear hours of
FBI tapes that were recorded secretly with the help of informant
Eugene Blackmon.
Blackmon, a contractor, was a business partner of Bullock before
agreeing to wear a hidden recorder ...
