State Rep. Larry S. Bullock's personal appointment records
disappeared after the federal government subpoenaed them, his
secretary testified yesterday in the legislator's
extortion-racketeering trial.
The witness, Virginia Lomelino, said Bullock first advised her
not to turn over the records to a federal grand jury that had
subpoened them last Nov. 13.
Then early this year, Lomelino testified, the Chicago Democrat
asked her for the records and she last saw them on his desk in
Springfield after she turned them over to the legislator.
Federal prosecutors raised the volatile issue of missing or
destroyed records outside the jury's presence. They say the 16
