Article: Artists rediscover Bauhaus

Most Chicagoans at least recognize the word Bauhaus, that label given to a revolutionary group of architects, artists and craftsmen who gathered in Germany in the early 20th century. Architect Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, one of the Bauhaus's greatest stars, settled in Chicago after the Nazis closed down the community, and buildings by him and his imitators are scattered all over town.

But even Chicagoans who know the Bauhaus well probably aren't aware that it had a thriving dance and musical life.
