State Rep. Larry S. Bullock (D-Chicago) was found not guilty of
racketeering but guilty of 12 lesser charges by a federal jury
yesterday.
The jury could not reach a unanimous decision on three other
charges - two of extortion and one of lying to federal agents.
Contacted later, jurors said they were divided 11-1 in favor of
conviction on the three charges that produced a deadlock. They
identified the holdout as a woman who had lived in Bullock's district
for 27 years.
"We spent all day trying to convince her," said juror Fred J.
Palello, a retired packing-company foreman from the west suburbs.
