Article: Darling right at home in Fenway Park

BOSTON Ron Darling grew up in the Fenway Park bleachers where the seats were lousy and the baseball wasn't always much better. There was nowhere else he would rather be.

Last night, he was in a Fenway Park dugout and surprised to find that the view wasn't much better.

Darling didn't have much time to worry about that, though. There was a game to pitch and it seemed like half of Central Massachusetts - the half he grew up with, anyway - was there with him.

"I've never been so nervous the way I was in the first two innings," Darling said. "I had 40 friends here tonight. I know it sounds a bit clicheish, but it will probably sink in when I go home tonight."
