The Pritzker family has purchased a controlling interest in
Hawthorn Suites, an all-suites hotel chain, from principals of the
Chicago-based Hawthorn Realty Co., a spokesman confirmed.
About 200 properties are projected for the company over the next
three to five years, according to Joseph A. McInerney, president. He
joined the company recently after serving for 25 years with the
Sheraton Corp. He most recently was president of the franchise
division.
"The acceptance of the financial community has been very good,
and we are doing preliminary work with some of the major developers
in the country," McInerney said from Hawthorn Suites' Boston
