George Branham III said the opportunity to become the first
black touring pro to win a national PBA tournament didn't create any
pressure on him yesterday. He said Mark Roth took care of that.
Once Branham cooled his nerves about meeting a PBA millionaire,
he also took care of Roth 195-191 to win the Brunswick Memorial World
Open at Northern Bowl in Glendale Heights.
"It was a big feeling for me, bowling against Mark Roth. I used
to watch him on television when I was young. Today I just tried not
watching anything he did," said Branham, who turned 24 Friday.
Branham, from Arleta, Calif., said he hoped his dad, who
averages 190 and helps him with his game, would get to see the finals ...
