Article: White House offers to let Regan testify // CIA's Casey hospitalized

WASHINGTON The White House, trying to avoid a clash with Congress, offered yesterday to make chief of staff Donald T. Regan available to testify about Iranian arms sales and to put new pressure on two former aides to say what they know about sales and diversion of profits to Nicaraguan rebels.

Even as the White House offer was being disclosed by spokesman Larry Speakes, Sen. Patrick J. Leahy (D-Vt.) was announcing that the Senate Intelligence Committee had decided to call Regan to testify today under oath.
