Lawyer Robert G. Perkins picked up the endorsement of eight independent political leaders yesterday in his bid for alderman in the key lakefront 43rd Ward.

Perkins, who has not won the backing of retiring Ald. Martin Oberman, won the support of the City Council supporters of Mayor Harold Washington - David Orr (49th), Danny Davis (29th), and Ed Smith (28th).

Others endorsing Perkins were Tina Tchen, chairwoman of Cook County Democratic Women; Jeff Smith, 9th District State Central Committeeman; Robert Weissbourd, president of the Progressive Chicago Area Network; independent strategist Don Rose, and Maureen Barry, chairwoman of Network 43 and a board member of the Independent ...
