Emma Cohen Gilbert, 82, child psychologist and advocate of children's rights, died yesterday in Cambridge, Mass.

She was the first married student allowed to attend Radcliffe College in Cambridge. She was graduated summa cum laude in 1926 and also received a master's degree.

During World War II she co-chaired the Federal Project on the Protection of Infants and Children in Wartime. After the war, she became staff psychologist for children at Children's Hospital in Washington.
