LOS ANGELES "Stand by Me," recorded in 1961 by Ben E. King and now a
hit again, has re-introduced to the Top 10 two men who helped guide
the formative years of rock 'n' roll - songwriters Jerry Leiber and
Mike Stoller.
"It's wonderful, this thing," said Stoller. "It's great, 25
years after it came out. It's like a whole new career for Ben."
"Stand by Me" is just one standout in the Leiber and Stoller
songbook, which also includes such popular works as "On Broadway,"
"Jailhouse Rock," "Yakety Yak," "Love Potion No. 9," "Charlie Brown,"
"Save the Last Dance for Me," "Kansas City" and "There Goes My Baby."
The partners will be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame
