To get to the stacks in the transportation library at Northwestern University, you go into the main NU library, down stairs, past a checkpoint, down more stairs, through an angular tunnel, into the art library, up two flights of stairs, across a room, in through an almost invisible door, around a corner, and up a tiny flight of metal stairs.
