It is perhaps the least accessible room in any school building
anywhere.
To get to the stacks in the transportation library at
Northwestern University, you go into the main NU library, down
stairs, past a checkpoint, down more stairs, through an angular
tunnel, into the art library, up two flights of stairs, across a
room, in through an almost invisible door, around a corner, and up a
tiny flight of metal stairs.
There you find old train schedules, bound highway magazines and
several study cubicles, with windows, ...
