New York firefighter John Sineno also happens to be a good cook,
and when he demonstrated his cheesecake making talents on a Phil
Donahue show, one of our readers wrote in hoping to get a copy of the
recipe. Several readers provided it.
The cheesecake is unusual in that it has no crust and bakes at
an unusually high temperature. Test your springform pan before
baking the cake. Pour in water and if no leaks occur, the pan can be
used. Otherwise, line the outside of the pan with foil, or get
another pan.
Here is the recipe for pina colada cheesecake mentioned on
Phil Donahue's show. It comes from The Firefighter's Cookbook by
John Sineno (Vintage, $7.95 softcover).
