Several weeks after I opened a cooking school and cookware shop
in Southern California, I received a telephone call.
"I hear you have the most beautiful cooking school in the United
States," the male voice on the other end of the wire exclaimed. "When
can I come to see it?"
"Store hours are from 9 until 6," I replied.
"Thanks," he said.
I was about to hang up when I heard, "Wait, don't you want to
know who this is?"
"Who is it?" I inquired impatiently.
"Danny Kaye. In fact," he said, "why don't you come and see my
Chinese kitchen?"
So I did. Several days later he visited my school and two
people both passionately involved with cooking became fast friends.
