The class leaned forward, flat stomachs sucked flatter, tight
buns tucked even tighter.
The view from the back row was inspiring. And depressing.
Sixty high-cut leotards. Sixty pairs of shiny tights. Dozens of
furry designer sweatbands.
Everywhere you looked, straight ahead, to the side, in the
mirrors, there they were to taunt you. Arms and legs and arms and
legs.
One, stretch. Two, stretch. Three, stretch, four.
Me and my ratty sweat pants headed straight for the door.
"Whoa," said the woman I smacked into while fleeing aerobics
halfway through the class. "Hey, you didn't come from Guatemala. Did
you?"
I looked at her. She looked at me.
She was a frosted blond, a green-eyed ...
