"The Big Chill" may have helped Motown's founding fathers
relive their youth, but a second-generation Detroit group is singing
sweet soul with the depth of maturity.
The Winans, a captivating Detroit-based quartet whose music
appeals to all ages, is becoming a household name in contemporary
gospel music. The gospel pioneers will perform at 8 tonight at the
Auditorium Theatre (922-2110).
The Winans brothers - Marvin and twin Carvin, 29, Michael, 27,
and Ronald, 30 - produce a sound rooted in the dual influences of
gospel hymns and Motown pop.
