There is only one sure cure for acne: old age.

It is impossible to know how many people have or have had acne. Every teenager, even those lucky enough to inherit a clear complexion, gets at least the occasional pimple on his face or back. But when do a few pimples turn into acne? There is no clear answer.

Part of the problem is that pimples are a perfectly natural - although unsightly - part of puberty.

"Acne is just the exaggeration of a normal process," said Dr. Paul Adam, a Toronto dermatologist.
