Article: Religions share spring festivals celebrating life

The spring festival celebrated last week and today is both
Yahwehist and pagan, both Christian and Jewish. It illustrates the
unity and the variety of human religious experience. There are many
different layers of meaning, past and present, piled up on the
festival, from many different religious sources.
The blend of religions in the Easter/Passover celebration does
not prove that all religions are the same. But it does prove there
are similarities of meaning as well as differences. If we are to
argue intelligently about religion (which is even more fun than
arguing about politics - except in Chicago), we should begin with an
understanding of that on which we agree and then proceed to ...
