Rats, murder, sex - "Love Affair, or the Case of the Missing
Switchboard Operator" (Facets Multimedia, $59.95) has got it all.
But hold on, horror movie fans. This quirky 1967 Yugoslavian film is
for a highly select audience - one with a heightened taste for the
bizarre.
"Love Affair," directed by Dusan Makavejev, tells the tale of a
heated liaison between a lovely switchboard operator and a lonely rat
exterminator. The chronological tale is interrupted by dissertations
by various experts: a sexologist, a forensics expert and a team of
exterminators. All attempt to explain what happens in highly
clinical terms. All fail ignominiously.
