Eddie Kelly hasn't lost his touch.
It was standing room only the other night in a Lincoln Avenue
saloon for Kelly's annual "Great Fights of the Century" extravaganza.
Kelly, 62, a former Marine Corps boxing champion, is Democratic
committeeman of the Northwest Side 47th Ward, and one of Mayor
Washington's more formidable political adversaries. In recent
months, Kelly has lost more than he has won in his bouts with
Washington. He was ousted as boss of the Chicago Park District and
backed unsuccessful mayoral candidates Jane Byrne and Tom Hynes.
For the last dozen years, Kelly has invited several hundred of
his closest friends to spend the night with some of the fight game's
