DEAR BETH: I want to slim down so I won't feel fat in shorts or
bikinis. I cut back during the day OK, but get this awful craving
for something "solid" in the evening. Carrots or yogurt just don't
satisfy me. I wind up eating cookies or ice cream.

carbohydrate cravings at Massachusetts Institute of Technology. She
found that carbohydrates help release a substance called serotin,
which is involved in regulating moods. So carbohydrates may make
