Bruce Wolf is supposed to give WLUP (98-FM, 1000-AM) listeners
the sports rundown each day. He does - in his own way.
Wolf turns sports copy into sports comedy. For example:
On a brawl at a recent Cubs game - "The benches cleared and the
players swarmed the mound like old ladies elbowing each other over
free Frango mint samples at Marshall Field's."
On the Flyers and Islanders playing into a fourth overtime -
"It's one thing to see which guy blinks first; it's another to see
who takes 40 winks first."
On Al Campanis' comments - "For nationally televised stupidity,
it was the best thing since Gerald Ford liberated Poland in the 1976
presidential debate."
