Words cannot express what Gwendolyn Manter wants to say. So,
she's using "pure sound" for her new show, "The Revelation of John,
Chapters 17, 18, 19, an Opera."
The one-act opera is getting its first hearing at the New
Lincoln Theater, a well-hidden storefront at 3443 N. Lincoln.
Manter calls the work an "auditory and visual dramatization of
the conflict and resolution of good vs. evil." And "pure sound,
rather than words, (is used) to express emotion." Her compositions
are augmented by her adaptions of jazz and classical music. A
10-piece musical ensemble will accompany the 20-character cast.
