Article: Bill Cosby's humor gets a little old on `49' tape

Bill Cosby always has been a gentle comedian. From his early stand-up comedy and recording days to his current status as a television superstar, the Cos always has sought laughs with a subdued technique. For his fans, the result is folksy. For detractors, Cosby is dull.

I tend to walk the middle line. But now, with the release of "Bill Cosby: 49" (Kodak Programs, $19.95), I'm starting to think Cosby is losing his soft edge.

"Bill Cosby: 49" fits into a hemorrhoids-and-trifocals genre of comedy that leaves me cold. And I don't think you have to experience these growing pains to think this material is funny. I don't find childbirth humor delightful, and I've been through that experience.
