Article: Grass isn't addictive? Just ask a lawn junkie

Before it is too late, someone should form an organization called Lawn Lovers Anonymous.

Every neighborhood has a few homeowners who spend most of their at-home hours tending the grass - dethatching, mowing, edging, fertilizing, reseeding, applying weed killer and watering.

These people look in disdain at the guy next door when he takes off for the tennis courts or the golf course on a Saturday.

If it rains on a weekend, the candidates for LLA are not annoyed that a family picnic must be called off. They are resentful that they cannot work on the grass.

Undoubtedly there are some addicted lawn lovers who want to quit. But they face the same withdrawal problems as a cigarette ...
