To see Sunnyland Slim is to see the blues in motion.
Slim is a most gentle craftsman, with his 79-year-old fingers
floating across the keys like low clouds, his right hand showing
special feeling for the high parts. Slim hears bass and percussion
with the instinctive nod of his head and the tap of a foot.
His vocal style: smooth with sting.
This is one big weekend for Sunnyland Slim (Albert Luandrew).
Besides
playing in the Howlin' Wolf tribute band at noon today on the
Crossroads Stage of the Chicago Blues Festival at Grant Park, and his
set with his own band at 6:20 tomorrow at the fest's Petrillo Music
Shell, Slim will play his regular set at 8:30 p.m. Sunday at
B.L.U.E.S., 2519 ...
