Iwas cool, almost placid, as I measured Jim Braddock with a
straight left to the face. Jes' like Joe.
I moved almost methodically to my left with my explosive right
hand cocked. Ready for the knockout. But first I'd keep working my
left jab to Braddock's face and forehead, and then I'd land a right
cross to the ribs and solar plexus, and another stiff left that would
straighten up the bending champion for a thunderous right hook to the
jaw.

This was serious stuff. Me and Joe. Because on the night of
June 22, 1937, me and Joe would finish off champion Jimmy Braddock
and the whole wide world would hear that man on the radio announce
"the winner and new heavyweight champion ...
