NEW YORK (AP) With thousands of guests straining for a glimpse
as the bride and groom exchanged vows atop a flatbed truck, an
ultraconservative Jewish sect celebrated the wedding of its grand
rabbi's only daughter in grand style Sunday.
Grand Rabbi Moshe L. Rabinowitz and the Munkacs Hasidim know how
to throw a party. Three years ago his son, Chaim, was married at the
New York Coliseum. In the same week, the bride's cousin was married
before 20,000 at Nassau Coliseum.
Sunday's celebration began with a smorgasbord in the Jacob
Javits Convention Center, where ovens were scrubbed and blowtorched
by a dozen rabbis to remove any residue and keep everything kosher.
