The almighty sky is the limit for gospel music.
Like the truthful music itself, Chicago gospel has traveled from
the Chicago Stadium on the West Side to the South Shore Country Club
before making its downtown debut tomorrow and Sunday at Grant Park,
Jackson Boulevard and Columbus Drive.
The fact that gospel is being granted the same outdoor stage as
blues demonstrates the advance the music has made in recent years.
When the Mayor's Office of Special Events created the Chicago Gospel
Festival in 1985, the event lasted four hours on one day. This
year's free festival will run for 21 hours between noon and 10:30
