Elvis Presley movies are like a bad Berlitz course.
A common talking head spins a fast world of diverse tongues.
It's no secret that Presley himself consistently was discouraged
about the canned nature of his film career. In an assembly-line
style that covered 33 movies and made profits of more than $200
million, Presley did little more than play himself, play himself and
play himself.
There was Elvis, the sullen New Orleans busboy in "King Creole";
Elvis, the troubled beachcomber in "Blue Hawaii"; Elvis, the pensive
lifeguard in "Fun in Acapulco"; Elvis, the scowling boxer in "Kid
Galahad," and, of course, Elvis, the moody ex-con, in what is
perceived as his timepiece, "Jailhouse ...
