The Chicago area is the "Land of Links" with hundreds of 9- and
18-hole public golf courses located in the suburbs within a short
drive of the city.
For devotees seeking new challenges, or merely a change of
terrain, the suburban courses offer plenty of opportunities to test
their metals - and their woods. Listed below are some nearby
courses. All are 18-hole courses unless otherwise noted.
COOK COUNTY
Glenview Park (724-0250), 800 Shermer, Glenview. Hours: 5:15
a.m. to 7 p.m. Fees: weekdays, $8.75 for 9 holes, $13.50 for 18
holes, $8.75 after 4 p.m.; weekends, $16, $9.25 after 3 p.m. Riding
carts: weekdays, $9 for 9 holes, $16 for 18 holes; weekends, $10 for
9 holes, $17 for 18 ...
