U.N. war crimes prosecutors today rested the first phase of their case against former Yugoslav president Slobodan Milosevic following 95 days of testimony focused on proving that, as commander in chief, Milosevic had to have known that his forces were committing atrocities in Kosovo.

The 300 exhibits and 124 witnesses provided no direct evidence that the former leader ordered killings or mass expulsions of civilians during the 1998-99 conflict in the Serbian province.
