Article: R. S. Johnson acqires set of modern prints

Through the end of August, R. S. Johnson Fine Arts will present a number of outstanding modern prints by several artists, along with an exhibition of sculptures and paintings by Paul Guiramand.

The prints not only reflect many of the characteristics found in paintings by the same artists; they also serve as excellent examples of the prevailing artistic trends of their time. R. S. Johnson is at 645 N. Michigan (943-1661).

For instance, like many early 20th century European works, the French fauvist Maurice de Vlaminck's paintings and prints are indebted to Vincent van Gogh's use of vivid color and demonstrative paint handling.
