According to the Beat Farmers' biography, guitarist Jerry Raney
was abandoned as an infant, raised by migrant farm workers and
received no formal education other than guitar lessons when he was 8
years old.
"Well, that's not quite right," Raney said, laughing. "He hates
it when I let on but our drummer, Country Dick Montana, actually
wrote that. He's got quite the imagination."
Raney said it has been interesting reading some stories written
about them because not all reporters figure out their
ludicrous-sounding biography is mostly fiction.
"We didn't really think people would take this seriously," he
said in a phone interview from his San Diego home. "But it's kind of
