Q. I want to get energy-efficient replacement windows for my
home, and someone mentioned heat-mirror window glass. What is it,
and is it very energy efficient?
A. Heat-mirror glass in new or replacement windows is extremely
energy efficient, with an insulating value of five times that of
ordinary single-pane glass. This glass can reduce your heating and
cooling costs substantially and improve your comfort level
year-round.
In addition to the energy savings, heat-mirror glass blocks most
of the ultraviolet rays that fade your furniture and carpeting. And
the high insulation value resists window condensation on the glass
down to below-zero outdoor temperatures.
