A collection of 54 films and videos from around the world will
be highlighted in the seventh Chicago Lesbian and Gay International
Film Festival starting tonight.
The event has become one of the three largest homosexual film
festivals in the country, along with New York and San Francisco,
according to Brenda Webb, festival director and head of Chicago
Filmmakers, a nonprofit organization that has presented the festival
annually since 1981.
"This has become an important event, not only for the gay
community in Chicago but for our organization," Webb said.
Most of the films and videos have not been shown in Chicago
