Article: Raymond Coffey new Sun-Times managing editor

Raymond Coffey has been named managing editor of the Chicago Sun-Times, executive editor Kenneth D. Towers announced Monday.

Coffey, 57, has worked most recently as associate editor, columnist and editorial board member of the Chicago Tribune. His appointment is effective next Monday.

It was as a member of the Chicago Daily News staff from 1961-78 that Coffey really distinguished himself, winning two National Headliners Club awards for his coverage of the Vietnam War and the civil war in Biafra. He also was honored for his foreign reporting with an Overseas Press Club Award in 1973.
